Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about Echo — the AI meeting and video recorder, transcription assistant and follow-up generator.

What is Echo?

Echo is an AI meeting and video assistant. It records or accepts uploaded audio and video — meetings, sales calls, interviews, property walkthroughs, site visits, lectures and training sessions — and turns each one into a speaker-labelled transcript, an executive summary, action items, body-language and visual notes, sentiment analysis, and ready-to-send follow-up emails.

Can Echo summarise a video, not just audio?

Yes. You can upload a video file (MP4, MOV or WebM), record from your webcam, or capture your screen with mic. Echo samples frames and sends them with the audio to Google's Gemini multimodal model, so the summary reflects what was said and what was on screen — including body language, room condition or measurements depending on the analysis mode you pick.

What video analysis modes are available?

Four: Meeting / conversation (body language, talk balance, decisions, actions), Property walkthrough (room-by-room notes, condition flags, buyer/seller talking points), Site / project measurements (measurements, materials, scope, risks), and Generic summary + next steps. Pick the mode on the Record screen before you start.

Is there a countdown timer for recording video?

Yes. Before recording from your camera or screen you can pick Off, 3, 5 or 10 seconds. A large countdown overlays the preview so you can get into frame, then recording begins automatically. When you stop, Echo takes you straight to the AI summary page.

How accurate is Echo's AI transcription?

Echo uses state-of-the-art speech-to-text models that typically achieve 90–95% word accuracy for clear English audio. Accuracy depends on audio quality, accents, background noise, and overlapping speech. We recommend a quiet environment, a single microphone close to the speaker, and recording in WAV or high-bitrate MP3 for the best results.

Can I record a live phone call with Echo?

Mobile operating systems block apps from tapping into cellular call audio for privacy reasons, so Echo cannot record a live phone call directly from the browser. The workaround is to put the call on speakerphone and record using Echo on the same device, or use a second device to record. For VoIP calls on a laptop (Zoom, Google Meet, WhatsApp Web), Echo can capture system or tab audio via the screen recorder.

What audio and video file formats does Echo support?

Audio: MP3, M4A, WAV, WEBM, OGG and FLAC. Video: MP4, MOV and WebM, up to 200 MB. Most files up to about an hour are processed in minutes.

What languages does Echo transcribe?

Echo transcribes 50+ languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, and more. Summaries and follow-ups can be generated in any of these languages.

Is Echo free?

Yes. Echo offers a free forever plan with 30 transcription minutes per month — audio or video, all from the same pool — plus summaries, action items, and speaker-labelled transcripts. Paid plans start at $9/month for 90 minutes and unlock follow-up scripts, talk-time analytics, sentiment timeline, coaching scores, and PDF export.

Is it legal to record a meeting or phone call?

Recording laws vary by country and state. Some jurisdictions allow one-party consent (only one participant needs to agree), while others require all-party consent. You are responsible for obtaining the consent required where you and the other participants are located. When in doubt, ask and get an explicit yes on the recording.

Does Echo use my recordings to train AI?

No. Your recordings, transcripts, and summaries are yours. Echo's AI providers are contractually prohibited from using your content to train their models. Your data is processed only to deliver the service.

How does Echo handle privacy and GDPR?

Optivio Software Ltd, trading as Echo, is GDPR and CCPA compliant. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). You can request access, export, or deletion of your data at any time. We sign Data Processing Addendums on request. See our Privacy Policy and DPA for full details.

Can I export transcripts and summaries?

Yes. Every recording can be exported as a polished PDF including transcript, summary, action items, follow-up email drafts, and analytics. Copy-to-clipboard is available for individual sections.

Does Echo identify different speakers?

Yes. Echo performs automatic speaker diarisation and labels each turn (Speaker 1, Speaker 2, etc.). You can rename speakers after transcription to match real names.

What can I use Echo for?

Common uses include sales call recording and coaching, recruitment interviews, customer research and user interviews, lectures and study notes, podcast transcription, journalist interviews, therapy session notes (with consent), and internal meeting summaries.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Cancel from account settings in two clicks. You keep access to your plan until the end of the paid period. No refunds for partial months, but no lock-in either.
